FONDREN PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN RESPOND TO

MODERATOR’S CHALLENGE

The women of Fondren Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Mississippi eagerly responded to the moderator’s challenge by adopting two new projects.  The first project is the collection of articles to be used by persons staying in Hope House, a new project in Jackson, which offers temporary lodging to the family or persons undergoing lengthy treatment t St. Dominic’s Hospital.  Just think of it as an adult Ronald McDonald House.  Each month we focus on certain items to bring to circle.  The first month was toilet articles such as soap, shampoo, and lotion.  Many women brought the small toilet items that are available in hotels.  Then we brought paper goods such as paper towels and napkins.  Hope House has requested large Styrofoam cups and gallon zip-lock bags, which we plan to provide.  Fondren women have been very happy to participate in this new project.

Our second project has been slower to get off the ground.  It is providing small casseroles of frozen food to take to our own members who are sick or otherwise in need of help.  The reason we’ve been slow is that it has taken some time to find the perfect container—one that will hold frozen food and still be able to be heated in the oven.  Those containers will soon arrive, and I’m certain that the women of Fondren will again show their willingness to help others.

Thank you so much for providing the incentive we needed to come up with these projects.  They have been a blessing to us.
